Celebrating 100 years of PSMLA!

100 Years of PSMLA: A glance into the archives

In1992, PSMLA played a proactive role to represent the profession in discussions concerning new PA State Chapter Five Curriculum regulations. PSMLA members spoke at meetings across the state. Finally in November, the State Board approved PSMLA’s suggested statement: ‘ All students converse, at a minimum level of Intermediate Low as defined in the oral proficiency guidelines developed by the American Counsel on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, in at least one language other than English, including the native language if other than English, under section 5.215 (c) (relating to languages).

(Note: Unfortunately, the next PA governor changed curriculum requirements and this policy was not included.)
