PSMLA Fall Conference – Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s PSMLA conference a huge success, especially all the attendees. It all started with an excellent Pre-conference workshop conducted by Dr. Bonnie Adair-Hauck on the Integrated Performance Assessment. Even the weather cooperated for the weekend, no rain and no snow.
We had many teachers and students from all over the state, and a few from the states of New York and Ohio. There were textbook exhibitors, representatives from travel and technology companies, a couple of opportunities to buy jewelry, and much more. Twenty-five people joined in the fun on the optional winery tour on Friday evening after the conference. Some attendees had fun with the Language Lotto and on the Silent Auction where they bid on a variety of items.
The PSMLA Awards Ceremony was held during the luncheon on Friday. Congratulations to this year’s recipients.
The 2016 PSMLA Merit Awards were presented to:
1. The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh
2. The Multicultural Community Resource Center of Erie.
The recipients of the 2016 Educator of the Year Awards for distinguished teaching and professional contributions in World Languages and cultures were:
1. Alice Edwards, Ph.D., from Mercyhurst University, who received the PSMLA 2016 Post Secondary
Outstanding Educator of the Year Award
2. Robert Hall from Fairview High School who received the PSMLA 2016 K-12 Educator of the Year Award.
We hope to see everyone next year on October 5-7, 2017 at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg / Hershey in Grantville, PA.
