Read below for information about the PSMLA Fall Conference, professional development opportunities, and job openings.

PSMLA Fall Conference – October 13-15, 2016

It’s not too late to register for the PSMLA Conference which will be held in Erie this year.  Come join us at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center in Erie and earn hours toward Act 48.  This year’s theme is Languages: The Flagship to Opportunities.  The conference begins on Thursday with a Pre-Conference Workshop: “Using Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA) to Improve Instruction and Learning” conducted by Dr. Bonnie Adair-Hauck. Check out the website to view the Schedule of Sessions which will detail all the available topics and presenters at this year’s conference. There is also an Optional Winery Tour planned for Friday after the conference.  You must be registered for the Winery Tour by October 5 to attend the winery tour. When you book your hotel, be sure to give the code PSMLA.  Visit the new PSMLA website at psmla.org to learn more and to register for the conference and the optional winery tour.

Developing and Assessing Interpersonal Communication Look who’s talking!

World Language Educator Dawn Samples presents Developing and Assessing Interpersonal Communication Look Who’s Talking! This workshop provides ideas for developing, practicing, and assessing student-to-student conversations (or text message exchanges) and emphasizes what it takes to move from the Novice range of performance to the Intermediate range – and from the Intermediate range toward the Advanced range. Teaching with Comprehensible Input:  The Why, What & How

Derry Township School District is sponsoring a workshop series addressing high yield practices related to Comprehensible Input (CI) in the WL classroom. Michelle Kindt, a National Board Certified Teacher of French will present a six session series that includes topics ranging from the philosophy of CI and CI teaching strategies to ACTFL Proficiency levels and Can Do Statements.  Please click here for more information.
