PSMLA Task Force
Would you like to work with other language affiliates to advocate for a WL Supervisor in PDE or to develop materials to promote a career in language teaching?  PSMLA is looking for members to join the PSMLA Task Force to improve the state of world language teaching in PA.  If you want to make a difference, join the task force today!

Pennsylvania Language Forum - Call for Submissions
Do you have an especially engaging lesson? Have you found a tool that enhances your practice? Is there a program you´ve developed that you're proud of?  PSMLA invites members to submit articles, lesson plans, and research related to the enhancement of world language education. 

The editors of PSMLA´s premier language journal, the Pennsylvania Language Forum, are currently accepting submission for the spring edition. 

Members are encouraged to submit their entries by TOMORROW February 1.

Reminder: PEP Application Deadline
The New Year has arrived, and schools are moving to complete the first semester.
We remind all high schools that Saturday, February 17, 2024, is the submission deadline for this year’s PEP applications.

Vista Higher Learning & PSMLA Webinar
PSMLA members are invited to join us for a free webinar sponsored by Vista Higher Learning entitled, Cultivating Your Classroom for Engagement and Inclusivity

Join us February 6th at 4:30pm to listen to presenters, Megan Flinchbaugh and Nathan Campbell, as they present Strong Foundations: Expanding and Applying Vocabulary.

A second webinar will be presented on February 8th at 4:30pm, by Yensen Sierra Lambert. Join us to learn about cultivating safe spaces as she presents Windows, Mirrors, and Sliding Doors: Inclusive Teaching in the Language Classroom.

Soon we will open registration for our annual workshop in Mechanicsburg at Messiah University on Saturday, April 6. This year's focus will be on the impact of Artificial Intelligence in the world language classroom. Keep an eye on future news alerts for more details and to sign up. Registration is now open for the 2024 IUP Spring Methodology Conference.  This year’s process is using IUP’s Marketplace, and is an all electronic process.  Just follow the link and instructions as shown on the Registration page (or from the drop down  menu).

AATSP Swap Shop - Sat. Feb. 24th - RSVP now!
Calling all Spanish teachers!: You are invited to southwestern PA's 10th Annual AATSP Swap Shop and Latino Cooking Demonstration, scheduled for Saturday, February 24th, 2024 from 10am-2pm at Seton Hill University (Greensburg, PA). Come connect with colleagues in Spanish, experience creative teaching demos shared by peers, and enjoy a cooking demonstration focused on "La comida de los dioses (chocolate y maíz)". 

The event is free for AATSP members as well as for PA Modern Language teachers, and we are pleased to offer ACT 48 credits. Please come if you are looking for new and creative teaching ideas and interested in participating in an immersive Spanish environment.  RSVP via email to Debra McMahon (mcmahon@setonhill.edu) by Monday, Feb. 19th.
