Dr. Nancy Zimmerman is a retired Associate Professor of Spanish at Kutztown University whose distinguished career has advanced world language education in Pennsylvania. Through her excellence in teaching, mentorship, scholarship, and service to PSMLA, she has prepared future educators, strengthened the profession, and inspired generations of language teachers.
A scholarship to attend the PSMLA Fall Conference is available for teachers within their first 5 years of teaching. For 2026, the scholarship will pay for registration; it does not cover travel or lodging.
The applicant must be a current PSMLA member who is currently teaching world language(s) and does not receive funding from his/her school district or university to attend the conference or the funding does not completely cover registration and rooming. The applicant must write a one-page essay explaining financial need for the funding, how attendance at the fall conference will enhance the candidate’s teaching, and how the recipient will share the information learned at the conference. Please look at the rubric to ensure that all details are included in the essay.
Submit the essay as a PDF attachment to conference@psmla.org between July 1 and August 15. You will receive a response by September 1.
This scholarship promotes teacher retention and offers meaningful professional learning opportunities for educators early in their careers.
