Digital Dialects: Exploring the Intersection of AI and Language Learning
April 6, 2024
PSMLA and Messiah University invite K-12 as well as college-level world language educators to the Spring 2024 Central PA Workshop on Saturday, April 6.
Join Katie Weisser and Emily Smith, language teachers at Central Dauphin, for the interactive workshop Digital Dialects: Exploring the Intersection of AI and Language Learning.
Workshop Description:
Artificial Intelligence is present in all aspects of our lives; how are we to respond as educators? “Digital Dialects” delves into the growing influence of AI in world language education. After a brief exploration of traditional and generative AI, we will examine its possibilities as well as potential limitations and ethical concerns. Two focal points will be: using AI to streamline tasks and integrating AI into existing teaching methods. Participants will explore a variety of AI powered resources and get insight into practical aspects such as cost, availability, and security. There will be hands-on time to explore and engage with AI technology.
Please make sure that you have signed up for ChatGPT before the session as attendees will not be able to do so at Messiah. We will explore other AI programs as well.
Registration includes a continental breakfast as well as lunch. Dietary restrictions must be communicated at the time of registration.
PSMLA members register at a reduced rate. Non-members may become members prior to the workshop to take advantage of the $10 member discount and extended membership through June 2025.
