Mindfulness for the World Language Classroom
THE PHILADELPHIA AREA SPANISH EDUCATORS is inviting you to join them next Saturday, March 14, at Chestnut Hill College. JENNIFER SCHWESTER will present an interactive workshop on mindfulness and social-emotional learning activities that can be applied immediately in your classroom! Attendees will practice strategies they can use with all levels in the target language. Continental breakfast and raffle included!
Advocacy Alert
Your advocacy for language education is critical right now. The Joint National Committee for Languages (JNCL)-National Council for Languages and International Studies (NCLIS) www.languagepolicy.org has issued an advocacy alert.
The President's Budget Request for FY 2021 eliminates funding for the Department of Education's international education programs (Title VI and Fulbright-Hays).
As Congress works on FY 2021 funding bills, take action to urge your Members of Congress to provide at least $106 million in funding for Title VI and Fulbright-Hays.
MEAD Project Survey Request
Hello! My name is Michele Back and I am one of the NECTFL Mead Leadership Fellows for 2020-2021. As part of my project for this coming year I would like your assistance in completing a brief survey about any efforts you use or know about with respect to recruiting future world language teachers. Your responses will be completely anonymous, unless you decide that you would like to participate in the second stage of this project (and I hope you will!) Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions: michele.back@uconn.edu. Thank you for your participation!
