PSMLA Fall Conference 2025

Please join us in the charming and historic city of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for the annual Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association fall conference. The conference will officially begin on October 15th in the heart of this beautifully preserved town, where we invite you to reconnect with colleagues amidst the rich history and culture of our state. This year's conference will also spotlight innovative insights and practical strategies designed to empower teachers in guiding their students on the journey to language proficiency. Attendees will discover cutting-edge tools and expert knowledge that will not only inspire their teaching practices but also ignite their students' passion for mastering a new language.

Call for Proposals

PSMLA invites world language educators to submit conference session proposals on topics related to pedagogy, language education research, social and cultural topics, the conference theme, or other topics of interest to world language teachers. Sessions presented in target languages are encouraged. Exhibitors are welcome to submit sessions relevant to the aforementioned focus areas, but not marketing proposals. All sessions are expected to be 45 minutes in length.
The deadline for the submission of proposals is April 4, 2025. Please direct any questions concerning conference proposals to the conference chairs.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Gilbert received her doctorate from Teachers College in educational leadership. She is a frequent presenter on proficiency-based teaching and has taught Spanish and science as well as FLES methodology classes. Her curriculum units have been published as exemplars of content-based instruction. Dr. Gilbert was lead instructor in NYU’s and Global Language Project’s StarTalk programs for teachers. In 2020-2021, she taught an Action Research methods class for world language teachers at Queens College. Currently, she serves as the Chair of Modern Languages, researcher coordinator and instructional coach at Saint David’s School. She earned NYSAFLT’s 2020 Teacher of the Year and AATSP’s 2024 Teacher of the Year awards.
