PSMLA Fall Conference - October 13-15, 2016

Registration is now open for the PSMLA Fall Conference! Come join us at the Ambassador Banquet and Conference Center in Erie where this year’s theme is Languages: The Flagship to Opportunities. The conference begins on Thursday with a Pre-Conference Workshop: “Using Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA) to Improve Instruction and Learning” conducted by Dr. Bonnie Adair-Hauck. The Schedule of Sessions for Friday and Saturday is now available on the website. There is also an optional Winery Tour planned for Friday after the conference. Be sure to register for the conference prior to September 16, 2016 to take advantage of lower rates. Book your hotel room before September 12, 2016 to use the PSMLA Code for a reduced rate. We hope to see you in Erie!

Job Openings

The J.T. Lambert Intermediate School (East Stroudsburg Area School District) is searching for a French teacher to begin on August 23, 2016. Candidates must possess a valid Pennsylvania Instructional I or II French certification for this assignment. Qualifications include the following: strong academic background, highly developed classroom management skills, strong technology background, instructional experience/orientation at the appropriate level, creative and energetic and understanding of and empathy for students at the appropriate level. Completion of successful interviews and meeting all local District requirements are required. Please express your interest in this position by submitting a PA Standard Teaching Application along with a copy of your certificate, transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation and all current clearances. United Friends School (Quakertown) seeks a joyful, energetic part-time Spanish teacher for our Preschool through grade 8 program. Candidates must be fluent in speaking and writing Spanish, experienced in the TPR approach to teaching a language, and comfortable with teaching a wide age and ability range of students. We are seeking a teacher who has experience in Spanish-speaking cultures and who can create curricula that celebrate those cultures and increase cultural competency. Responsibilities include working closely with classroom teachers in preschool through 4th grade and with a team of middle school teachers.
