7th Annual Spanish Immersion Swap Shop and Cooking Demonstration

The Southwestern PA Chapter of the AATSP, Seton Hill University, and Westmoreland Intermediate Unit invite you to our 7th Annual Swap Shop and Latino Cooking Demonstration on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 9am-2pm at Seton Hill University (Greensburg, PA). Presentations include an extended session with Gamification expert Dr. Silvina Orsatti: "Utilizando los juegos para enseñar la justicia social."  Her presentation will be followed by several swap shop sessions from area K-16 faculty, who will offer handouts and digital files for some of their most successful teaching activities.  The day will conclude with an Argentine cooking demonstration and an authentic meal.  The event is free and open to all Modern Language teachers, and Act 48 credit is offered. National Chinese Language Conference

Join us for the 12th annual NCLC on May 9–11 in San Diego, California! The National Chinese Language Conference (NCLC) is the largest annual convening in the United States and North America that brings together leaders and practitioners in the field of Chinese language and culture education. It is dedicated to enhancing the capacity for teaching and learning of Chinese language culture by sharing cutting–edge practices and examples with educators and policymakers. Over the past 11 years, the conference has attracted over 13,300 international, national, state, and local educational leaders, school principals and teachers, and higher education faculty.

PSMLA Immersion Day

PSMLA will host their annual Immersion Day on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia from 8:30AM to 2:00PM. Teachers of Chinese, French, German, and Spanish will have opportunities to interact with colleagues on topics related to cultural themes in the target language. In addition, teachers of all languages will explore Teaching with

Comprehensible Input (TCI). Sessions will include modeling comprehension-focused interaction around PictureTalk and personalized questions and answers (PQA in the world language classroom . The presenters for this session are Anny Ewing and her team from

TriState TCI/Altamira Language Learning, West Chester Springs, PA.

Attendees who are PSMLA members will be able to earn five hours of ACT 48 credits. The cost is $35 for PSMLA members, $45 for non-members, and $20 for students with college identification. Please note that these fees include a continental breakfast and international luncheon as well as access to exhibitors.
