Elementary Spanish Immersion Teacher (FT), Central PA

The Locust Grove Campus of Lancaster Mennonite School (Lancaster, PA) has a full-time elementary Spanish Immersion teaching position open for the 2019-20 school year. We are looking for a dynamic Spanish-speaking teacher that has a passion for elementary students and is culturally competent to teach within a diverse student body. Applicants should be committed to living out faith in an Anabaptist perspective and to creating a teaching and learning environment that encourages and promotes creativity, inquiry and collaboration.

Spanish Teacher (FT), Pittsburgh, PA

The Ellis School, the only pre-kindergarten to grade 12 independent day school for girls in Pittsburgh, PA, has an opening for a Lower School Spanish Teacher for the 2019-2020 school year. Responsibilities include teaching Spanish classes for pre-kindergarten through grade 4 students; producing well-planned lessons; providing opportunities for active and collaborative learning; listening and speaking in Spanish while using a wide array of resources to connect language and culture; communicating regularly with parents and effectively using PowerSchool Learning (our learning management system) to give regular updates regarding class goals and assignments; covering assigned supervision duties; as well as attending division meetings, department meetings, and in-service days as required.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate fluency in Spanish and will bring a strong interest in World Languages and an ability to connect language and culture to enhance the learning experience. It is important that the individual has the ability to: create a program that suits the learning needs of different ages of learners and styles of learning; teach Spanish to young learners in an engaging and appropriate fashion; work collaboratively with colleagues; make cross-curricular connections when possible; and use a variety of technology tools in the classroom. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree, possess an enthusiasm for working with and teaching young children, as demonstrated by prior experience in an early childhood setting, a strong sense of school community and teamwork, and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.  Ideal candidates will also possess a commitment to fulfilling the mission of the School: to prepare, empower, and inspire each and every girl through an excellent education in an all-girls environment.
