100 Years of PSMLA: A glance into the archives
The 1930 PSMLA meeting in Williamsport “Dr. Henry Klonower, Director of Teachers’ Certification Bureau in Harrisburg, addressed the meeting, saying that the MLA was the first organized group to recommend higher standards for teacher certification (PSMLA had requested requiring of 24 credits instead of 12).
He requested the Association to work on a list of courses of sequential study that should be completed by those who want certificates to teach modern languages."
